Homemade Play Dough ~ Easy & Fun Gift

Make a batch of fun and longlasting
homemade Play Dough with
a few simple ingredients from your pantry!

You will need all purpose flour, salt, vegetable oil,
cream of tartar, food coloring and water

1) To 1 cup of flour 2)  add 1/2 cup of salt.

3) Add 2 tsp cream of tartar

4) Mix dry ingredients well.

5) Measure 1 Tbsp of vegetable oil

6) Add oil to 1 cup of water

7) Stir water/oil mixture into dry ingredients.
Blend well

8) Add food coloring.  I prefer paste as the colors are
more intense.

9) Blend thoroughly.  You can add 1 tsp vanilla extract or
other, such as lemon, almond, cherry for a
wonderful scent.

10) Stir constantly over low heat until dough
thickens up.  Note ~ dough will be difficult
to stir.

11) Remove from heat and knead for approximately
5 minutes.  Dough should be smooth when done.

Each recipe makes approximately 3 portions the size
of a commercial playdough jar.

Store in an airtight container or bag.  It will keep for
months when stored properly.

For a quick and easy gift, bag several colors individually
and tie together with a pretty ribbon.  Attach a candy
cane or little cookie cutters for an added touch!

Inexpensive and Easy to make!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Sue! My children have always loved making and playing with playdough. It's really nice to be able to add your own scents by adding extracts and to create your own colors.
